goTenna Pro Deployment Kit

The concept for the Pro Deployment Kit came from personal experiences in the field conducting real-world training simulations and exercises with prospective military and public safety customers. Routinely we found ourselves in situations where even though the scenarios were simulated, the lack of internet connectivity was quite real because many of the events took place at isolated military bases.

For those wondering, Alaskan bases sucked the most.

These frustrating experiences in the field helped me realized that there was a chicken-and-egg problem for our product. We worked great if people downloaded and prepared for an operation ahead of time, but if they forgot to install and set up their requisite applications before they were out in the field, they were either completely stuck - or had to go through an incredibly convoluted process to get operational. It became clear that a lightweight and portable solution was needed that allowed rapid, easy, and complete setup of an operational goTenna system completely off-the-grid irrespective of the surrounding state of infrastructure.

That is what the goTenna Pro Deployment Kit does. Much like the initial invention of goTenna, the goKit was a tool that was built to solve a problem I was personally having in the field. At it’s core, the goKit is a mobile offline app store. It enables wireless 1-click super user-friendly installation of iOS or Android apps without connectivity to the central gird. Additional features include map pack deployment, charging with backup power, firmware updates, optional satellite backhaul, and even some neat little auxiliary storage compartments.

Basically it was a solution for all the stuff I was tired of having to haul around and do manually :)
